Would you like Rapide to specify and value engineer all the drywall partitions on your project, complete with paperwork?

curved partition wallDrywall solutions are becoming increasingly popular due to the ease of construction and flexibility offered to the architect or designer to accommodate specialist design features while integrating the practical requirements of fire and acoustic performance.

When higher specification requirements are needed, contact Rapide for guidance. Partitions are non-loadbearing systems comprising plasterboards screw-fixed to a steel frame made up of lightweight studs

Metal Stud Partitions offer simple and complete solutions to space division throughout both commercial and residential developments.

Consideration must be given to:

  • Duty Rating – medium, heavy or severe
  • Fire Rating – half hour, one hour, two hours and so forth
  • Sound Rating – acoustic transmission highly valued
  • Impact Resistance – some plasterboards are tougher than others
  • Moisture Resistance – dependant on area of use
  • Recommended Heights – work within the systems capability
  • Deflection Heads – to allow for structural movement
  • Vertical Studs – choice of correct stud size and build centres
  • Insulation – to assist with thermal and acoustic requirements
  • Surface Fixings – what will be mounted on the partition
  • Support for Horizontal Joints in Facings
  • Doorways - The weight of the door will determine the required jamb construction.
  • Corners, Intersections and Abutments - Consider the need for:
    • additional studs to accommodate corners
    • intersections and abutments
    • Also check the fire and sound ratings of abutting systems
  • Fixings
  • Movement Control Joints
  • Services - The cavity within a partition is often used to conceal services. Where services or ducts penetrate, simple details maintain the integrity of the partition.
  • Finishing – a choice of finishings best suited to end use and programme constraints
  • Limitations - Temperatures over 50°C can induce a change of state in the plasterboard which would reduce its physical performance and serviceability.
